NSTA 2011 National Conference in San Francisco
Join us in the "City by the Bay" for NSTA's 2011 national conference. The conference headquarters hotels are the Hilton San Francisco Union Square and the Marriott San Francisco Marquis. Conference registration and exhibits will be at the Moscone Center. Most sessions and events have been scheduled at the Moscone Center and the Hilton and Marriott.
Aquariums Join Forces to Educate the Public on Designating New Marine Protected Areas
BIRCH AQUARIUM FEATURES LECTURE SERIES
September 8, 2008, Long Beach, CA—The Aquarium of the Pacific has joined with the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and the Ocean Institute to develop and implement activities to help Southern Californians understand the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) and provide them with information about how they can participate in the important process of designating local Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) along our local coastline. Activities will include special events, programs, and informational displays at each of the aquariums.

In 2010 the California celebration takes place from September 25 to October 17, kicked off by the 26th Anniversary of California Coastal Cleanup Day! The California Coastal Commission has compiled a calendar of over 270 coastal and water-related events taking place in 26 counties. Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Celebrates 30 Years of Protection
Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Superintendent Chris Mobley will commemorate the sanctuary’s 30th anniversary during the September “From Shore to Sea” lectures. Mobley will present a special screening of the sanctuary’s new film “Beneath the Rainbow Bridge, A Journey through the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary.”

GLOBE.gov September 2010 News Brief
Laura Altin comes from the small Estonian town of Kilingi-Nõmme. She was first introduced to GLOBE as a shy 8-year-old, when her mother took her along to the first GLOBE teacher training in Estonia.
